Assam Police registers fresh case of assault on a doctor.

Within less than a week of the barbaric attack on Dr Seuj Kumar Senapati, another such news arrives.
This time it is from the SK Roy Civil Hospital at Hailakandi, which on May 20, 2020, was transformed into a 50 bedded Covid Hospital.
On May 27, when a Covid patient named Chitarranjan Malakar, hailing from ward no 14 of Lakhi town, was bought to the hospital with respiratory issues. He was accompanied by Rumpi Malakar and Himangshu Malakar(uncle of Rumpi Malakar).
As the patient arrived at the hospital, Dr Gaurab Kumar Bhattacharya performed his check-up and found a respiratory infection. He later prescribed him some medicines. After a while, the patient expired. His family member called the doctors immediately, and after the announcement of his death, his family members got fierce and violent.
Police personals are carrying out severe investigation regarding Senapati's issue, said Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. He further added that none of the accused would be spared.
The attendants of the deceased, Himangshu Malakar, verbally abused the doctor, and Rumpi Malakar hit the doctor. Himangshu Malakar even threatened to kill the doctor if he met him somewhere outside his hospital.

Bhattacharya somehow manages to escape from the hospital and lodges a complaint at the Hailakandi Hospital Police Outpost on May 28, seeking justice.
Since then, police started their search operation and eventually, after eight days, both Himangshu and Rumpi were arrested. Himangshu was released on bail. Whereas, Rumpi was kept on remand for further investigation.
While a few days ago, another junior doctor Seuj Kumar Senapati, was brutally attacked by a mob of the kin of a patient who soon expired after being admitted to the hospital. Senapati is undergoing treatment and is responding positively to treatments. Police personals are carrying out severe investigation regarding Senapati's issue, said Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. He further added that none of the accused would be spared.
