Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta has expressed his gratitude to all the religious leaders for coming forward for the Covid-19 vaccination mission.
Mahanta appealed to them to reach out to the masses and make the mega vaccination drive success in Assam.
He further instructed that the vaccination plan is to be meticulously prepared and executed.
Vaccination sites are to be set up in areas accessible for all and mobile vaccination units are to be deployed in inaccessible areas for the benefit of the residents of
Mahanta said this in a meeting at Dispur which was convened to address the issue of vaccination hesitancy in some pockets of some districts in the state. The meeting also discussed to find solutions to achieve 100% first dose vaccination in Assam, surmounting the various problems in the vaccine-hesitant areas.
The Deputy Commissioners shall take up intensive micro-level planning in a systematic manner, so as to ensure 100 per cent vaccine coverage in their respective districts.Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah said that Covid Vaccination completion is a priority for the safety of all citizens and hence the need for full involvement of the religious leaders in the areas, where there is vaccine hesitancy.
Church leaders were requested to make a strong appeal to the people for vaccination, especially during Sunday mass prayers.

A total of 31 religious leaders including Father George Kandathinkara of NECHA (North East Community Health Association), Proban Killing from ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), Balaram Phangcho, Lokhimon Sangha, Dolamara Karbi Anglong, Philip Taro, Karbi Anglong Baptist Fellowship, Diphu, Karbi Anglong , Biswajit Daimari, Advisor Udalguri Sacred Heart District Church attended the meeting.
