Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta was present at the Ambulance flag-off ceremony organized at the Janata Bhavan premises along with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
While attending the occasion, he thanked the manager of the Mahindra group for donating 15 Oxygen cylinder-implanted ambulances to the Assam Government. He mentioned that every hand of help during this tough time is a big ray of hope for the Covid patients to recover.
Mahanta added that one of these ambulances will be there at the health centre at the Assam Secretariat premises and the others will go outside.
In order to vaccinate all the people, we even visited almost every house and made people aware that the vaccinations were available at their voting centres.He said that it was good news that the number of people, who died on August 27, was less than 10. The vaccination drive in the state is also gearing up at a very good pace and a satisfactory number of beneficiaries were being vaccinated in the month of August.
Mahanta expressed his thankfulness towards the central government for their support.
"The Chief Minister is taking initiatives and planning to relax several services by September, which might include the opening of inter-state transport services, re-opening of schools (especially for class 12 and technical studies), changes in curfew timing. In order to vaccinate all the people, we even visited almost every house and made people aware that the vaccinations were available at their voting centres. We are also expecting that we can successfully vaccinate all the people very soon," said Mahanta.
Moreover, the health minister added that every medical college in the state is equipped with pediatric ICUs, doctors, nurses and other medical staff are being given training and we are ready to face any kind of medical challenge in the upcoming time. At the present time, there is a total of 1600 ICU beds in Assam.
