Assam CM asks GMCH doctors not to practice at private hospitals

The Assam Health Minister said that the new super-speciality block which will be soon inaugurated in GMCH is fully equiped

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has made an appeal to the doctors of the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)  to stop practicing at private nursing homes.
"There have been complaints about certain doctors providing services at private nursing homes during their duty hours. Directed GMCH authorities to ensure that such acts are stopped", Chief Minister told reporters during his visit to GMCH.

"There have been complaints about certain doctors providing services at private nursing homes during their duty hours. Directed GMCH Principal to ensure that such acts are stopped", the Assam Chief Minister said.
Dr Sarma also stressed the services rendered to the patients by the hospital.
He further said that one of the oldest hospitals in Guwahati, Mahendra Mohan Choudhury College and Hospital was soon going to be shut down and a new super-specialty block was coming up within the premises of the GMCH.

The super-specialty block which will be officially inaugurated in February 2022 was being used to treat the Covid patients and is fully equipped with ICU and all the other important medical facilities.
