Assam Chief Minister flags off 15 oxygen-supported ambulances
This noble initiative has been taken by Mahindra and Mahindra Limited as a part of its corporate social responsibility
The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 28 flagged off 15 oxygen-supported ambulances and 15 oxygen concentrators. The Mahindra and Mahindra Limited has donated these ambulances and oxygen cylinders to the Assam government with an aim to provide relief to the Covid patients throughout the state.

This noble initiative has been taken by Mahindra as a part of its corporate social responsibility. Earlier also this group has been providing various Covid essentials like PPE kits, sanitizers, oxygen concentrators, oxygen plants, face shields etc. The group has also utilized its facilities like club Mahindra for Covid quarantine facilities.
Addressing the meeting, Sarma said that a total of 6,900 people lost their lives to Covid and there were also such days when the cases went close to 7000 per day.

It was mentioned that dedicated efforts of the medical staff resulted in the gradual decrease of Covid cases in the state. It was on August 27 that the daily Covid case was less than 500.

Sarma added that witnessing the improving Covid situations in the state, the Government is planning to open up schools and colleges and relax a few services. But it is an equal responsibility of the common man to follow every Covid protocol. He said that if the people start violating Covid norms even after the relaxations, then the government will be forced to impose a complete lockdown as was imposed earlier.

"It was after the visit of Mansukh Mandiviya, the Union Health Minister to Assam, that it was possible for us to get Covid vaccines in sufficient amounts. We are hopeful that we will be able to vaccinate 50 lakhs people in the upcoming months. A total of 60 lakhs people have been vaccinated only in the month of August to date", said the Chief Minister.
Health Minister of Assam, Keshab Mahanta, MLA Jayanta Malla Buzarbarua, Siddharth Singh, Commissioner and Secretary at Public Health and Engineering Department, Director of National Health Mission (Assam) Dr Lakshmanan S and senior manager of Mahindra Navajit Sarma were also present at the event.
