"Anaemia Mukt Bharat" training held in two districts of Nagaland

Organized by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, this training aims to make India anaemia free

The department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW), government of Nagaland, with an aim to reduce the prevalence of anaemia organized a training on "Anaemia Mukt Bharat" in Nagaland's Phek and Mokokchung districts. Orientation training for block officials on "Anaemia Mukt Bharat" was conducted at Dr. Wethselo T. Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital, Phek. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Phek, in a press release stated that the "Anaemia Mukt Bharat" was launched with a special focus on the health and nutrition needs of children, adolescents, women of reproductive age group, and pregnant and lactating mothers. SMO DH Phek, Dr.Ngopelo Keviechu spoke on the burdens of anaemia and how to diagnose and manage a case of anaemia. The training was attended by Block MO, BPMs and ASHA Coordinators. CMO office said the block officials would be further imparting training to ASHAS and school teachers.

In Mokokchung, a Training of Trainers (ToT) for block-level orientation on "Anemia Mukt Bharat" was held at the conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung. CMO Mokokchung, stated that DPO (UIP&RCH), Dr. Ayangla Saku through a PowerPoint presentation highlighted the status of anaemia in Nagaland, the cause of the high burden of anaemia and public health implications.

The trainees were oriented on the strategies to combat anaemia, advantages of IFA supplement, demand generation among pregnant mothers, anemia management protocol for adolescents and pregnant women, and recommended testing methods. The trainees included SMOs, BPMs, MOs, GNMs, BACs and CHO.
