Focusing on the aim to make the rural mass aware of Covid-19 and how to tackle it in the initial stages, the Earthful Foundation has come up with a unique initiative.
Earthful Foundation is a non-profit organisation that works to promote the effective use of natural resources.
The organisation was started in the year 2018. The core members of this organisation are Mrs Shweta Mishra Mahanta and Angaraag Mahanta as its founder and Mrs Kingkini Choudhury as its Director.
In a conversation with Fit Northeast, Amrita Barua, the operational coordinator of the organisation, told us that they recently conducted a Covid awareness programme at Jhargaon Block in Morigaon District, where they were supported by 34 doctors from the 14 Public Health Centres in that block.
The doctors, along with the foundation members, distributed a special Covid care kit, exclusively designed by the foundation.
The poster instructed how the patient and his family must behave while the patient is in isolation at their homes. It further notified how they could refrain from hospitals if it is not necessary.
The kit has all the essentials, starting from surgical masks, sanitisers, an oximeter and some essential medicines coupled with a few posters in vernacular language.
These posters had drawings and writings, which explained how to behave if someone gets infected while further suggesting a few precautions.
The poster instructed how the patient and his family must behave while the patient isolates themselves at their homes. It further notified how they could refrain from hospitals if it is not necessary. Through the usage of this kit, it was even convenient for the health workers to keep an eye on the patient's health condition.
Earthful Foundation created a helpline where they acted as mediator and helped people in getting medical oxygen.
