An Independence Day breather for Assam

Movement of individuals from 6am to 5pm was allowed today

Independence Day brought a respite to the ongoing practice of weekend lockdowns in Assam. Today, movement of individuals had been allowed from 6am to 5pm subject to the mandatory adherence of COVID -19 protocols like social distancing, hand sanitization and wearing face masks.
Maintaining COVID-19 protocols were mandatory despite the relaxations.
People across the state were hence seen reveling in Independence Day celebrations. In Guwahati, The Judges' Field had hosted Assam's Official Independence Day function after 12 years. However, owing to the pandemic no parades and awards functions were organised this year. A cycle rally of 18 km from Commerce Point to Lachit Ghat was organised by Upahaar (an NGO) as a mark of respect to the frontline warriors.
