AIIMS starts Covaxin trials on children

After getting approval from the Drug Controller General of India, AIIMS at Patne begins the registration process to vaccinate children from 2 to 18 years

As per a report by Prasar Bharati, the clinical trial of Covaxin has started at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna.
Bharat Biotech International Limited has developed the vaccine in Hyderabad.
This time the trial is being carried out for the children of age groups of 2 to 18 years.
The two doses of the vaccines will be administered at an interval of 28 days through intramuscular shots.
Adding to that, Singh said that an RT-PCR test must be done at the hospital, and if the results are negative, only then the candidate can avail of the vaccine.
Last week, AIIMS opened their lines for the children to register their names. A 13-year-old boy from Patna was the first one to register himself for the vaccine. Moreover, the participants in the trial will be given a flat conveyance reimbursement of Rs1,000 on every visit to the institute for vaccination.
