Academic and Research Wing inaugurated at Marwari Hospital in Guwahati
New course designed to prepare the trainees as Covid warriors speculating Covid 3rd wave
An 'Academic and Research Wing' was inaugurated at the Marwari Hospital on September 7, 2021. Sri Shankar Lal Goenka, who has donated this to the hospital, inaugurated the wing in the presence of the president of the managing board of the hospital Shri Ramesh Goenka and the Secretary Dr Ghanshyam Das Dhanuka.
The new wing was inaugurated on the 5th floor of the Multi-Speciality hospital. The academic and research wing consists of two well-furnished classrooms equipped with projector facilities, research and academic auditorium with an audio-video facility and a capacity to 100 plus people at a time, a research area with a consent room and a storeroom. It also has the department of clinical research room along with a library having a computer facility.
Attending the event, the president of the managing board of the hospital, Shri Goenka said that they have applied for accreditation with the National Board of Examinations for Post MBBS Course in two specialities, namely gynaecology and obstetrics (DGO), NBE& Family Medicine which is D Farm. Med (NBE). It was added that these diploma courses were for two years and all the required documents have been submitted and the inspection was awaited.
He further said that in order to facilitate the students, the library has been started and KOHA software has been installed for better library management. Books of various disciplines have been made available and have been equipped with a Computer facility.

An MoU has also been signed with DELNET-Developing Library Network. This MoU will help access to more than 3.5 crore catalogue records of books, journals, articles, selected international full-text journals in various fields etc with the facility to borrow books (on Inter-Library Loan) and get copies of journal articles required for the treatment of the patients and also for research and reference purposes."
Also under the Academic and Research Wing, the hospital has started a 'Covid Frontline Worker crash course' in its premises in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, New Delhi along with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI).
The President of Marwari Hospitals, Shri Ramesh Goenka said, "It is a complete Government Certified Training Course and even stipend of Rs.125 will be provided to each trainee per day. Also, there is the Insurance coverage of 2 lakhs for qualifying candidates. Basically, it will start with 21 days of formal training and after that, there will be a continuous class of 3 months, which will be called on-job training. So, basically, it will be a 4-month course. Besides these, an amount of Rs.500 is given to each candidate after enrolment."
Moreover, under this Academic and Research wing, an Advance Certificate Course in Diabetology under the Research Society for the Study of Diabetics in India (RSSDI) and Jaipur National University is being conducted at Marwari Hospitals.The course is basically designed to prepare the trainees as Covid warriors keeping the speculation of Covid 3rd wave in mind. The course consists of mainly three topics namely Basic Support Care, Advanced Care Support and Home Care Support. On completion of the course, the Skill India Certificate will be provided to each of the candidates.
The donor Sri Shankar Lal Goenka also addressed the guests present in the function. He said that he was very happy to donate this to Marwari Hospitals. He added that Marwari Hospitals is doing excellent work in the recent past, so he felt proud to be a part of the organisation by donating to this Academic and Research wing. He concluded his speech by congratulating team Marwari Hospitals for their success in managing and treating Covid 19 patients during the pandemic.
Moreover, under this Academic and Research wing, an Advance Certificate Course in Diabetology under the Research Society for the Study of Diabetics in India (RSSDI) and Jaipur National University is being conducted at Marwari Hospital. Till now, three batches have successfully completed the course under this wing.
Also, the Ethics committee of Marwari Hospitals, which was established in the year 2012, has been accredited by NABH in the year 2020, which is the first of its kind in the entire eastern region. The ethics committee is a part of various publications in the National and International levels. The Ethics committee is also a part of the Zydus Covid Vaccine trial. It is a matter of great delight that the Ethics committee license is used by two different hospitals to run their DNB program.

Again, under the Academic and Research wing, the hospital has applied to the Government of Assam to start 7 paramedical courses of Laboratory technician, Radiology technician, ICU technician, OT technician, diploma in Physiotherapy, Physician Assistant and Emergency Technician.
