8 doctors test positive for Covid in Silchar Medical College Hospital

Swab samples of all the 5 Covid positive doctors have been sent out-of-station for genome testing

Within two days, eight doctors from the Silchar Medical College Hospital have detected Covid positive. Their swab samples have been sent for genome testing to confirm the presence of the Omicron variant.
The list of five doctors includes the Principle of the college. All the five doctors who are Covid positive did not have any travel history. Two among those five are undergoing treatment at the Covid ward of the Silchar Medical College itself.
As per information, the other three of them are in strict home isolation. All five doctors were from various departments.  In India, the Omicron variant has multiplied 10 times in the last hours.

Two more Omicron cases were reported in Maharashtra on December 6, taking the Omicron tally to 23 in the country.
The centre has issued a revised guideline for the international travellers which came into effect from December 1. The guidelines are to be followed by all the airports in India which strictly instructs that all the travelers have to go through RT-PCR test on arrival, and their test results have to be negative in order to leave the airport.
