750 unvaccinated people die in Assam due to Covid-19

The total number of unvaccinated people in the state rose till 750 and 71.5% citizens affected in the last 3 months

Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)  Abhijit Sharma said that Assam has achieved a milestone by vaccinating 3 crore people of the State. Among this 3 crore people, 1 lakh have been vaccinated in the GMCH itself, he added. 
Sharma said that a total of 750 unvaccinated people have died in Assam due to Covid-19. "A study revealed that around 71.5% of people were affected in the months of August, September and October due to not taking the Covid vaccines," he added. 
The GMCH Superintendant said from April 1, 2021, the hospital registered 887 Covid-19 deaths. "There were 723 deaths during the first Covid wave and 1,686 deaths during the 2nd Covid wave," Sharma said. 
He said that Covid is still prevailing and the people need to take every precaution like getting them vaccinated and all the other necessary precautions.

It was almost a month ago when the government of Assam re-opened the schools and other educational institutions.

A total of 22 students and four teachers at Dikhow High School at Namti in Sivasagar district were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Nover 13. The ongoing half-yearly exam was halted for a week and the school gate was closed for 10 days.
A similar incident was reported from Nagaon, where the Principal along with several students of Ramanujan Junior College have tested Covid positive.
The college has been closed for 1 week and the hostels of the college have been evacuated as several boys tested positive.
